Travertine Effect Porcelain Stoneware: Elegance and Practicality
TRAVERTINE TOTAL LOOK WITH FLAVIKER SURFACES
In the hinterland of the island of Ibiza, amidst the colours of nature and surrounded by the tranquillity of a farm, architect and builder Gabriel Olivera of GO+ has designed Villa Can Zol, a private home with large volumes, perfectly harmonised with the landscape. In an elevated position with a splendid panoramic view, the building is a space that perfectly balances the relationship between modern architecture and the island's environment.
Olivera has integrated the villa with the surrounding nature and combined contemporary aesthetics with sustainability and well-being. Interiors and exteriors develop a continuous dialogue through spaces such as terraces, patios and balconies made directly accessible from the main areas and transformed into extensions of the living areas. The colours, soft and neutral, and the materials used, such as local stone and wood, emphasise the design approach that respects and enhances the environment while improving the quality of life of the residents.
The travertine-effect porcelain stoneware of the Navona collection stands out in design for its elegant aesthetics, durability, ease of maintenance and versatility. The Bone colour, in the two variants Cross and Vein, gives a sophisticated look to a surface that brings maximum practicality to a family home. Furthermore, the use of Flaviker porcelain stoneware in large formats - 120x280 and 120x120 cm - creates that continuity that helps visually expand spaces, making them appear more open and bright.
THE NAVONA COLLECTION IS FLAVIKER'S INTERPRETATION OF TRAVERTINE
Navona collection by Flaviker reproduces the rough look of unfilled travertine, creating a unique and striking finished result that combines the aesthetics of the original material with the versatility and practicality of ceramics.
The appearance of travertine slabs is determined by the way the blocks extracted from the quarry are cut. The Navona project stands out because it offers a vein and cross cut for each of the colours.
Travertine cut against the grain (vein cut) is the most traditional and well-known method, which enhances the natural layering of the material, with sharp and contrasting veins. This type of cut highlights the geological history of travertine, showing the limestone deposition lines.
On the other hand, cross cut travertine emphasises the ‘cloudiness’ in the material, creating a more uniform appearance, almost like any other type of stone.
The porcelain stoneware version faithfully replicates these two types of cut, reproducing in the factory the same visual characteristics that nature has created over millennia. Thus, you get the authentic look of travertine, but with the advantages of stoneware, such as greater strength and ease of maintenance.
The Navona collection by Flaviker is available in eight sizes and four thicknesses, perfect to meet the needs of any project, from elegant interiors to durable outdoor spaces.
It is also available in three colours:
Bone: A light and warm colour that creates bright and welcoming atmospheres, perfect for environments that require a feeling of openness and space.
Honey: A rich, golden hue that adds warmth and comfort, ideal for those seeking an inviting and sophisticated atmosphere.
Grey: An elegant and modern choice, perfect for contemporary and minimalist environments, which can be easily combined with other materials and colours.
THREE REASONS WHY YOU SHOULD PREFER PORCELAIN STONEWARE TO NATURAL STONE
1. Stain Resistance and Waterproofness
Porcelain stoneware is waterproof and does not absorb stains, making it ideal for areas such as kitchens and bathrooms, where natural stone can absorb liquids and require regular treatment.
2. Aesthetic Uniformity and Variety of Design
Unlike natural stone, which can have unpredictable variations, porcelain stoneware offers a uniform appearance and a wide range of designs, easily adaptable to any style.
3. Ease of Laying and Maintenance
Porcelain stoneware is easier to lay and does not require special treatments like natural stone, simplifying daily maintenance and reducing long-term costs.
